Wall Paper and Covering
Surveys on Surgery Theory: Papers Dedicated to C.T.C. Wall by Sylvain Cappell, Surgery theory, the basis for the classification theory of manifolds, is now about forty years old. The sixtieth birthday (on December 14, 1996) of C.T.C. Wall, a leading member of the subject's founding generation, led the editors of this volume to reflect on the extraordinary accomplishments of surgery theory as well as its current enormously varied interactions with algebra, analysis, and geometry. Workers in many of these areas have often lamented the lack of a single source surveying surgery theory and its applications. Because no one person could write such a survey, the editors asked a variety of experts to report on the areas of current interest. This is the second of two volumes resulting from that collective effort. It will be useful to topologists, to other interested researchers, and to advanced students. The topics covered include current applications of surgery, Wall's finiteness obstruction, algebraic surgery, automorphisms and embeddings of manifolds, surgery theoretic methods for the study of group actions and stratified spaces, metrics of positive scalar curvature, and surgery in dimension four. In addition to the editors, the contributors are S. Ferry, M. Weiss, B. Williams, T. Goodwillie, J. Klein, S. Weinberger, B. Hughes, S. Stolz, R. Kirby, L. Taylor, and F. Quinn.
Perfect Paper Mosaics Attractive, fun, and flexible, paper mosaics are a fabulous new way to decorate furniture, spruce up a picture frame, transform a tea tray, or embellish a book cover. And because they use many of the same tools as scrapbooking and rubber-stamping, crafters who already enjoy those arts will find the 10 techniques introduced here a perfect fit. The skills proceed from simple to more complicated, starting with the basic process of backing the paper with poster board, cutting the tiles, gluing the pieces, and sealing and protecting the finished product. Page after page reveals colorful and unique items, including coasters, refrigerator magnets, tissue box holders, a backgammon board, wall hangings, a lidded box, a lampshade, clocks, and decorative mirrors.
Baseboard - A baseboard or skirting board is a wooden board, normally 75mm to 300mm deep, covering the lowest part of an interior wall. Its purpose is to cover the join between the wall surface (usually plaster) and the floor, and to protect the wall from kicks and abrasion. Toilet papering - Toilet papering is, as its name suggests, the act of covering an object (usually a tree, house, or other structure of similar size) with toilet paper. This is typically done by throwing numerous toilet paper rolls in such a way that they unroll in mid-air and thus fall on the targeted object in multiple streams. The Wall of the Sky, the Wall of the Eye - The Wall of the Sky, the Wall of the Eye is a collection of seven short stories by Jonathan Lethem published in 1996. In 2002 a collection of the same name appeared in the UK which contained a different set of stories. Wall to Wall - Wall to Wall is a British television production company best known for its short-run and one-off historical and science documentaries. It also makes the popular UK drama series New Tricks.
